Guidelines for Open Access publications in license agreements between Royal Danish Library and publishers
Royal Danish Library has negotiated license agreements with several publishers of academic journals, which also cover the publication of research articles as Open Access.

These agreements give corresponding authors affiliated with Danish institutions the opportunity to publish their articles as Open Access in selected journals at no extra cost, i.e. without having to pay Article Processing Charges (APC).
Please note that Royal Danish Library only evaluates requests for and eligibility to publish Open Access for articles that have already been accepted for publication in a journal covered by one of these agreements.
The lists of participating institutions and journals in each agreement can be found on the respective agreement's page (see the menu on the left). Please note that ONLY hybrid journals are included in our agreements, meaning that Gold Open Access/Pure Open Access journals are NOT eligible with the exception of IOP Publishing.
Conditions
Royal Danish Library's conditions for validating requests for Open Access publication
The corresponding author of the accepted manuscript must always credit their affiliation with an institution participating in the relevant publishing agreement.
The corresponding author of the accepted manuscript must be an employee or student at the institution to which they have been credited.
Important notes about this condition:
• It is possible for corresponding authors to have dual or multiple appointments (e.g. to a university and a hospital, to a university and a company, to two different universities) as long as one of these appointments is at an institution, which is part of the relevant agreement, and the relevant institution is explicitly credited.
• Only the affiliation of the corresponding author is relevant for eligibility purposes.
• Corresponding authors who are emeritus, visiting researchers, or otherwise affiliated are NOT eligible.
Corresponding authors must use their e-mail address from the credited institution when requesting OA publication covered by an agreement.
Important notes about this condition:
• If the corresponding author cannot or does not want to use their institutional e-mail address, Royal Danish Library would have to use other methods to verify the author's affiliation with the credited institution, and the process may take longer.
• Please note that some publishers require the use of an institutional e-mail address, while others accept the use of e.g. IP range for the institution. For more information on specific requirements, please see Table 1 below.
The corresponding author must choose a Creative Commons license, which is a copyright license.
Where the publishing agreement gives the authors a choice, Royal Danish Library in line with the Danish Open Access strategy authors to choose the CC-BY 4.0 license, which is the least restrictive license in the Creative Commons portfolio.

Eligibility for Open Access publication is tied to timeline conditions for each agreement. See Table 1 below.
