Theatre scripts
Royal Danish Library is the national archive for performed professional drama. Theatre scripts are not subject to legal deposit, but the deposit is a practice in consultation with Danske Dramatikere (Danish Dramatists).
About depositing digitised theatre scripts
Royal Danish Library, as a cultural heritage institution under the Ministry of Culture, is responsible for the collection and preservation of both physical and digital cultural heritage. We collect some digital materials ourselves automatically, but there is a lot of content that we cannot collect in this way.
We therefore encourage everyone associated with digital publications to submit a copy of them to us. This will help us preserve the digital cultural heritage. You can upload digitised theatre scripts on this page.
If you have material for legal deposit that you cannot upload here, for example magazines, audiobooks or podcasts, you are very welcome to contact us.
Upload your theatre script
Royal Danish Library uses MitID to verify your identity.
How to upload theatre scripts
As an employee of a producing theatre, a theatre company, a drama-producing media institution (for example DR Drama) or as a dramatist, translator or dramaturg, you can continuously upload works.
Remember to enter all rights holders (dramatists, translators, editors, author, dramaturg), the premiere date and the place where the work premiered. In the case of co-productions, the premiere date to which the script version is linked is stated. That is, if Aarhus Theatre is uploading, it is the date that is linked to the production at Aarhus Theatre.
Especially for children's theatre drama:
Some children's theatre productions run over a number of years. If there are significant changes to the script, you can choose to upload the version from the original premiere and the version that is being performed today. Enter the premiere date as the original premiere date in one version, and the date from which the later text originates.
You can only upload one work at a time.
Since we have found that some theatre programmes are no longer printed, we have an experimental scheme where you can also link the programme text to the performance and other relevant performance material.
If the theatre or theatre group that performed the play does not appear on the list of credits, please write to kb@kb.dk att. Teatersamlingen - and we will add the theatre or theatre group.
Only PDF is supported as a file format (see how to create a PDF below)
You identify yourself with either the theatre's MitID (as an employee) or with your own MitID (as a rights holder).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us .
How to make a pdf
If the theatre script is a Word file on Windows or Mac, choose File > Save As. Choose Browse to select the location on your computer where you want to save the file. Select PDF from the drop-down list. On Mac, do the same. Give the file a descriptive name if it doesn't already have one, then click Save on Windows or Export on Mac and upload the PDF.
