The agreement is one of eight national agreements and provides full reading access to Wiley’s journals. In addition, it ensures immediate Open Access worldwide to articles published by researchers at participating institutions.
Main points of the agreement
- Participating institutions have full reading access to the Wiley Journal Collection.
- Researchers (as corresponding authors) at participating institutions can publish articles with immediate Open Access to the publisher’s version under a Creative Commons licence (CC-BY is recommended), with an APC waiver.
- The agreement includes a national cap of 1,259 APC waivers for Open Access articles per year.
- The agreement allows authors with Horizon Europe funding to publish Open Access with an APC waiver.
- If the agreement cap is reached, corresponding authors can obtain a 15% discount on the APC fee for Open Access publishing in hybrid journals.
- The agreement does not cover publications in Wiley’s Gold Open Access journals.
Agreement documents
We can provide a copy of the national Wiley agreement, which is available in English only.
For reasons of confidentiality and GDPR, the document may be redacted.
What do I do as a researcher?
Wiley will activate the Open Access publishing workflow, and it will be ready for authors from participating institutions from early February.
During the transition period, researchers should choose to publish their article behind a paywall. After early February, the corresponding author can choose to have the article made Open Access under the agreement retroactively.
Wiley will contact the corresponding author directly to accept Open Access and choose a Creative Commons licence in the Wiley Author Services Dashboard once the licence agreement is active in all systems.
Wiley follows its normal publishing process for Open Access articles. Only after an article has been accepted will Wiley guide you through the Open Access conditions of the agreement. The first step is to select your institution from the list to confirm your affiliation. Next, you will be presented with the option to publish Open Access without APC payment (waiver), provided that the agreement cap has not been reached and that you are affiliated with a participating institution.
